What is paracord?
Paracord is corded material that is made from nylon. It was originally used in the suspension lines of parachutes and now more readily available as general purpose utility cord use by both military personnel and civilians. The cord has core strands making it very strong and has a slight elasticity making it soft.
What is PPM Cord?
PPM Cord otherwise known as polypropylene multifilament fibre has incredible merits : lightweight, floats, mildew resistant, rot resistant, high breaking load, dries quickly, non-toxic and safe for humans and animals. The cord would more commonly be found on sailing yachts!
What happens when I place an order?
Once your order is received and paid for it will be handmade and dispatched withing the timings shown in the blue banner at the top of this page, sooner if possible.
How will my order be shipped?
All orders are shipped by 1st class Royal Mail. You will receive a dispatch email to let you know it is on its way. We always attempt to box your items up so they can be posted through your letter box so there is no need to wait about for a delivery or sign for your delivery.
How do I measure for my lanyard?
If you already have a lanyard lay it flat on a table, measure from the back of the neck to the tip of the clip. This measurement will be ensure that your whistle will hang from exactly the same place. If you do not already have a lanyard, use a piece of string to gauge where you would like your whistle to hang from. Lay the string flat on the table and measure. You are measuring the drop from the back of the neck to the tip of the clip. Your lanyard can be made to 18", 20" (standard), 22". If you are at all unsure of the length please contact us and we can guide you.
What if I would like to return an item?
If you are not entirely satisfied you can return your items within 28 days and we will honour a full refund. All items are checked before leaving our workshop, and never leave damaged. However if you believe the item is faulty we will refund your purchase and cover the cost of first class royal mail postage. If an item is not damaged but you would like to return it we ask that you will cover the cost of postage. No items should be worn if they are to be returned and should be returned complete with the packaging in a saleable fashion. We cannot accept returns of whistles. Can I have my lanyard in a special box?
All our lanyards are sent out in a special gift box. The box is free and a way of saying thank you for your purchase. We like our customers to feel special whether you are buying for a friend, family member or yourself.
Can you make something customised?
It is possible to customise a product you have seen to your requirements eg colour, length, diameter. When you place a customised order we will advise you of the timeline for the materials to be ordered and for the item to be made and shipped. We will require payment up front. Please message us, we will always try to help.
Do you ship overseas?
Yes, ActiveK9 ships overseas! Shipping outside of the UK will be calculated at checkout. If your country is not available at checkout please contact us.
Approx shipping times:
Europe - 5 to 7 working days
Rest of World - 7 to 10 working days
* Please contact us if you are hoping to make a sizeable order outside of the UK, we can then calculate the shipping cost for you.
* You will be responsible for providing any information required by customs to ensure the goods are cleared and for all customs and duties to be paid. This is not the responsibility of ActiveK9 Designs.
What's this about sizes and colours being approximate?
When braiding, the outcome can change according to the tension it was braided at. All attempts are made to get it to the exact length. When made the items are measured at rest. Remember we are not using machines to braid the lanyards, they are hand braided.
Colours variations are minimal in reality however everybody changes the settings of their screens (eg brightness, contrast, colour) for their comfort, so what you see might be slightly different to reality.
How do I care for my activeK9 Designs product?
From time to time you may want to clean your lead, especially if you choose lighter colours in your design. Click on this link to find out how to best care for your lead.
Do you offer discounts for buying more than one item?
We carefully price to reflect the love and time that goes into every custom handmade item made just for you. Putting less love in to reduce the price just isn't our bag. Please do follow us on Facebook or subscribe to our newsletter to be the first to hear when we reduce to clear samples or perfectly made items not quite made to an order specification by mistake.
Do you sell to trade?
We do not sell to trade. Our order book is full all year round and we are proud of the high standards and quality we maintain by not overstretching that order book.
Who is activeK9 Designs?
It all started with Gundog Lanyards back in April 2013 when I made a few lanyards for myself wanting something different to the boring piece of string! I then made a few lanyards for friends and as they say "the rest was history". A Facebook page, followed by a website, trade enquiries from the likes of Sporting Saint and then featured in several specialist magazines as must have items. The interest was truly humbling.
Then came the AeroDummys, a product I developed for myself so I could take my training with me anywhere, they flew out like hotcakes, literally.
Then finally came the leads, the product that took the most time to test and develop because I'm a stickler for perfection! It seemed appropriate to then bring all three brands together into one new home to take us forward, along with new ideas ... and here it is acitveK9 Designs.
